Cupping

What it is

Cupping uses a vacuum type suction to reduce the compression of tissues that results in relaxation.

The cup gently sucks your skin lifting the underlying soft tissue and pulling it into the cup, breaking up adhesions.

There is typically a warm sensation as the blood flow moves into the treated area.  The cups can be slid around to cover a greater surface area.

This treatment can:

  • Release scar tissue and fascial adhesions
  • Reduce painful trigger points
  • Relieve pain
  • Improve stagnant blood circulation and lymph
  • Improve range of motion
  • Eliminate effects of scars
  • Decrease toxins

What to expect

Cupping normally is not painful at all but can cause some soreness in the treated tissue.  Some bruising should be expected and can last a week or so.  The treatment area is fairly superfiscial and does not reach deep muscles like a massage.

What conditions cupping may help

  • Headaches
  • Muscle Spasms
  • Fasciitis - variety of places
  • Tendinitis
  • Bursitis
  • Fibromyalgia
